The OSCAL Foundation’s work to advance adoption of the OSCAL standards is supported and guided by its members. As a nonprofit organization, the Foundation welcomes financial support for its work. We also offer the ability to participate in and contribute to our work without cost.
Participation Options
General Membership
General Membership is free. Members subscribe to the Foundation’s mailing list to receive news and announcements, may attend and participate in working group teleconference meetings, and propose model changes or code contributions to GitHub. Technical Working Group (TWG)
The TWG advances the core technical mission of the foundation to develop, improve, and extend the OSCAL standard and the OSCAL ecosystem. The group may work on the development of open source tools, submit collaborative code to NIST, and develop and register OSCAL extension modules and namespaces. Engagement Working Group
Members may elect to participate in the Engagement Working Group. The group centralizes community efforts to identify and leverage opportunities for the Foundation to broaden the adoption of OSCAL. Meetings include identifying and sharing speaking opportunities, organizing educational meetings with public and private sector entities, and discussing additional publicity and educational activities. Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
Technical Advisory Group (TAG)– TAG members provide financial support for the Foundation’s operations. The TAG is responsible for overseeing and reviewing the technical work of the OSCAL Foundation. Organizations that are part of the TAG may vote on technical matters as they are brought before the TAG in monthly meetings. Members may review and approve by vote any pull requests against the GitHub repository, review and approve by vote any suggested changes to the OSCAL model before submission to NIST, have authority over the extension registry, and provide guidance, direction, and expertise to technical working groups.
